XD the way you call Echidna is deteriorating. She's Eggna now, pretty soon she'll be Eggnog.

The comment about Garf being upset his relative meeting "his" lover was a mistranslation (an easy mistake because she said "aitsu" I believe. A gender neutral term for a person like they/them, and translator probably got confused) and so Ryuzu was making a joke that she didn't want Garf to know his fake relative (Ryuzu) was meeting her lover (Subaru) since the connotation of sneaking around in the middle of the night is that they are lovers in hiding. It was an old fashioned joke since she is 400 yrs old, and that's why Subaru was play offended. πŸ˜…

Chels

The relative/lover translation is incorrect just keep that in mind

Sooo, the witch of envy merged the memories of everyone in the sanctuary and that ended up helping subaru? witch of envy mvp?

butcher

It was because Subaru revealed RBD to Echidna in a place where Satella couldn't come in and stop him like she normally does. She got angry so she showed up in the Sanctuary instead to get her revenge and possessed Emilia's body so she could use more of her power. That's the main theory anyway. There's no other real reason she would come in only this loop

Brady

THAT MAKES SENSE!

Wes And Steph

I'm not too sure about this. But after the second tea party, when the witch of envy was in the "real world" is it maybe because Emilia somehow failed the trial in a way that made the witch posses her? Or was that second tea party the trigger?

I hate Garfield. Few episodes later, I love Garfrield.

Another detail that you may or may not want to know, but in the body pillow statement, in either the web novel or light novel, she offered a clone for subaru to... you-know-what, but Subaru rejects that offer, not seeing Ryuzu in that way at all.

Nyctophobiasm

actually, i recall hearing that "his" in "meeting with his lover" was meant to be a "her" and that Crunchyroll made a subbing mistake. It was supposed to be "meeting with her lover" so Subaru was the metaphorical lover

Nyctophobiasm

What Ryuzu said was sort of a metaphor? Subaru being the relative and Ryuzu being the "lover", because Ryuzu and Subaru are scheming behind his back. Oooooor she was saying Subaru was the lover and Ryuzu is the relative, which would be hilarious. But either way it wasn't meant to be literal.

From the witches we've seen, they basically operate on their own moral compass. But like, eldritch versions lol

Here's some clever word play the author did with Satella and Subaru scene: At first when Subaru walked out to see the black fog, Satella said, "愛してる" (Aishiteru) which was translated correctly as "I love you". Nothing to misinterpret there. However, later on she says "愛して" (Aishite) which just means "To love", and Subaru interprets that *something* as "me", so, "Love Me". But really she was just telling him to love. So the question is, what is she telling him to love...? Find out next time on: Save Scumming From Zero!

I agree about Typhon, The Witch of Pride. She seems dangerous and someone we can't be too friendly with. Based on the dialogue given by her and Echidna's description of her in Episode 3, she has a very childish perception of good and evil. You're either good or bad, and if she judges you as bad you are a sinner and must be punished. But her measure of good and bad is based on whether you feel guilty about something. I find her dialogue interesting. She says you will feel pain when she punishes you if you have done bad things. But because Subaru didn't feel pain, that means he hasn't done anything wrong. But her Authority of Pride only works if you have a guilty conscience. The fact Subaru did in fact shatter to pieces as a result of Typhon's Authority means Subaru has a guilty conscience and thus thinks of himself as a sinner. Despite not being a bad person or committed any terrible sins.

I think the implication of why The Witch of Envy arrived is because Subaru broke the rules. Which is: Don't tell anyone about Return by Death. Subaru told Echidna about Return by Death, which usually has always been given consequences by either crushing his heart or killing Emilia. But for some reason she wasn't able to effectively punish Subaru because he was in Echidna's domain. I think that's what that shot of the hand coming was. I think that was The Witch of Envy trying to come into Echidna's domain to punish Subaru, but wasn't able to. So what does she do instead? She came out personally to the Sanctuary and went off towards the mansion to do some damage.

Wes and Step talking about Garfiel: I start liking him then I get so mad at him and we don't know what his deal is Heh isn't that basically describing Season 1 Subaru? For the longest time we didn't understand Subaru as a person and the deeper reasons behind his flaws, until Season 2 when we got to see his past. Its the same for Rem. We disliked her... until we understood her as a person and when she changed her tune around Subaru, then we liked her haha. I'd give Garfiel the same space lol. Let him cook! Wait until he's ready to tell us what his deal is.. then we can judge him πŸ˜‚
