You definitely have an above average comprehension of the phycological state of the MC, most reactors don't even come close to your level, mostly because both of you are parents and therefore, have a higher maturity level than your normal reactor. My only issue was your misunderstanding of the Subaru and Rem speech, other than that everything was almost fine. To clarify my problem, I'll share this YouTube comment, which imo explains it perfectly: Rem's confession was not a confession as such, but a motivational speech. Subaru is not a fool with no experience in love, he knows that Rem started to like him and that's why he responded guiltily at that instant, in fact, if you look closely his eyes started to twitch, and he didn't do it with sadism. Rem wasn't looking for an answer to his unrequited love, I think you forget that the initial point of this whole problem was that Subaru rejected his principles of wanting to save the girl he loved, Emilia, and Rem didn't like that because Subaru didn't behave like the hero she fell in love with. Those words from Rem sought to motivate him to bring back the Subaru he always loved and receive the most raw but realistic answer coming from him, and that was to go back to save Emilia. This Subaru analysed quite well and psyched himself up to answer what Rem wanted to hear. Many misunderstood this because the anime doesn't make much of an effort to bring in Subaru's internal monologues, but it was a good episode from start to finish, and this was definitely one of the most misunderstood scenes there is in Re:Zero. I hope now you could understand the scene, so you won't be future "Subaru haters" Edit: Just finished the entire reaction and heard your discussion at the end, nvm you guys clearly understand what happened with Rem and Subaru.

For some context: Ender is talking in private to Ela about her mother. When the conversation begins, she instinctively defends her and makes excuses for her. This, despite Ela specifically wanting to have this conversation because she knows that her mother is ruining their family cohesion. After some back-and-forth, we get this gem: { "Don't patronize me." She tried to put as much contempt into her voice as possible. He noticed. His eyes went distant and cold. "Don't spit at a friend," he said. She didn't want him to be distant from her. But she couldn't stop herself from saying, coldly, angrily, "You aren't my friend." For a moment she was afraid he believed her. Then a smile came to his face. "You wouldn't know a friend if you saw one." Yes I would, she thought. I see one now. She smiled back at him.}

The only way to counter it is make a contact with any other spirit. That’s why Julius, despite his spirit affinity has not possessed.

2024-12-02 21:51:33 +0000 UTCTo add to the thing about the I love Emilia scene, I think it's also worth pointing out that at least how I interpret things, him saying that was also him expressing to Rem that he will continue being the man that she fell in love with, he was going to keep fighting on, going with Rem in that scene was the give up option, that's how it started, and that stayed true all the way through. Also saying that second thing was kinda not ideal to say, since yk that's a bit of a small spoiler for s2 so prolly edit that out incase they haven't seen it

And you said something very interesting about Subaru breaking and then getting rebuild, making it harder to break him next time. Even now that I've caught up with the anime, I'm not sure if that is the case or if it's actually the opposite. Either way, great to hear your perspective and I LOVE your theorising. You've been on the mark so often, yet get completely lead astray moments later. Reminds me of when I watched it for the first time years ago. Looking forward to more reactions!
