Inbetweeners S2 Episode 6

Getting the last couple hour's sleep is leagues more important. I've done both things, and I can tell you, if you've done any studying at all, like say even just a day or a couple days' worth, then getting good sleep on the day of the exam is the literally most important thing you can do, only followed by eating something that won't bother you up until or during the exam. I've found out these things the hard way xD.

I dont really understand the minor major system in the US. Over in Denmark, we study C, B and A levels (technically also G levels etc), and then we take the grade average. There are hard requirements like having to have passed Math A, maybe Physics C and English A or Danish A etc. These are very common combinations. Sometimes Physics is substituted with a "Physics C or Chemistry B" etc. These are things you're required to have passed. After that, you will submit an application, and the institute will look at your grade average, and make a determination based on that. But even after that, there is often a dedicated "course" you can take, to make yourself prepared for a specific degree you're aiming for. This was done fx for the software engineer course, but it's done for several others as well, and you can even apply from a different system, where you write a literal application, and they will look at some of your competences, and you can be accepted that way if you don't have the grades, but have worked on relevant competences that now make you eligible, but since you can't retake your exams, this system exists for you to be able to prove that you now deserve to be considered alongside any other applicants. Most degrees are actually required by law to take on at least 2 applicants that apply through that system.

Simon’s parents got back together near the end of the last episode remember when his dad asked him if he had any condoms 😂

We only select our 3 subjects when we turn 16. And then we have 2 years to get good enough grades to get into the uni that we want; certain unis are better for certain courses, which means higher grade requirements. Until we're 16, the curriculum is wide enough that we explore what we need to decide our choice.

Sixth Form is only two years! :) They just completed their first year, pretty much. It used to be that you'd do your AS exam (to get half of a qualification) and then you'd do your actual A level exam at the end of the second year. They changed it now, though, so you don't have any exams at the end of your first year other than mock ones -- You'd instead just do one big exam at the end of the two years! Also, like Zak said, you'd usually be picking them at around 16 or so. I didn't, I personally did an apprenticeship for two years and then did 3 A levels at 18, so I guess if you wanted to put it off a bit, you could do an apprenticeship or something like that instead.

AS levels are still useful, especially once you see in your 20s. Once considered a mature student, universities are a bit easier to get in if you use foundation years, which have substantially lower requirements and like "mature" applicants for funding reasons. If you have a couple of AS levels and basic GCSE C equivalent in maths and English, you can get into an OK Uni. Get the foundation year with good results, you can either continue or even get into a better uni in some cases. Never assume something is not worth it doing your best even if its just getting the AS level, there are always options later even if things don't go as well as you want or go wrong.

These Inbetweeners videos have been so enjoyable 👌

worth mentioning, AS levels don't really exist anymore (well they do but they are now optional, I did them but wasn't required for Uni), and AS levels aren't that important overall, they are basically an exam you take for a qualification halfway through your A-levels (which is what gets you to uni). And the stress of picking your qualifications at 16 wasn't so bad but I always knew I was heading for a history degree.
