2025-02-20 00:17:20 +0000 UTCCorrect, Kurisu cited Heidegger's philosophy (Dasein) by saying that "Humans are temporal beings" and this show is showing how humans can break down when you remove that temporality with using time travel as a medium, so Wes is correct on that. Faris values the time she had with her dad when he was still alive which is why, just before sending the D-mail, she was questioning whether it was even necessary to send the D-mail in the first place; we tend to value and give meaning to things in life when we know that life itself is finite.

2025-02-19 22:43:14 +0000 UTCYes, like Wes said, the Shinkansen is Japan's high-speed train, also called bullet train. She tried to prevent her dad from taking the plane. Also, I think they could have tried to do both - saving the dad and getting the IBN - but you can't foresee exactly what the new D-Mail would change. I still think it was crazy for them to let Feyris send the first mail without knowing any details about it. The safest route is probably to try to undo the old D-Mails instead of getting into an even potentially deeper mess than they already are in.
