Alice In Borderland S2 Episode 1

Comments

this is why Usagi's arc is my favorite in the whole show and one of my favorites of all time. it's easy to think otherwise because she's a nature girlie and Arisu is a gamer, but she is every bit as weird and depressed and ostracized as he is. Alice in Borderland shows us this all throughout season 1, they just don't tell it outright until the convenience store. Usagi is only living on out of pragmatism, not because she has anything to live for. She is every bit as depressed as Arisu, she just has different coping mechanisms and hides it differently. We see this in her season 1 flashbacks, we see this in her talks with Arisu in episode 4, and we see this in her breaking the rabbit's neck to survive. (her own name means rabbit, after all). Yes, Usagi unconditionally accepts Arisu as he is even when no one did, but it's very very important to realize that Arisu did the same for her without even thinking about it. The poor girl has been suicidal this whole time, people just aren't seeing it. Fighting to survive is not the same as living. That's why Arisu insisting that they should go back together and that he'll protect her with his life is so unhelpful. That's not what you say to someone up to her neck in suicidal ideation. It's wrong, but it's sadly very in character, given Arisu's obsessive quest for answers, for a reason to justify why Karube and Chota had to die instead of him. He outright said this last season. Similarly, Usagi isn't wrong in comparing the game world to ours. The game world is the same, it just shows its teeth on the surface and is simpler to comprehend than the many moral and scientific paradoxes that make up everything we do and have and see irl. She IS wrong in giving up because of that, though. But it's very understandable that she'd feel that way. I am baffled that the Queen of Spades game is original to the show, because the way it ties this arc together for Usagi is so hauntingly beautiful and is arguably the main cornerstone in making the finale work. All of the props to the director and writers of this adaptation.

Hi Guys! If y'all love these battle royal shows, I'd recommend Kaiji, It's an anime, one of the show that inspires squid game. I'd go as far as Squid game is Kaiji's copy cat 😅. Even the director had mentioned it. The games in kaiji are really interesting so hopefully y'all can check it out!

I didn’t even realize this was already Season 2 until I saw the title somewhere at the end when they paused it. Smooth transition for sure. Season 3 is supposed to release in late 2025.
