Solo Leveling S2 Episode 9

Comments

I think what it meant by the dungeon reverting to original state… and this is just my thought. I think the dungeons are legitimate places on other plains of existence. So the 100 floor dungeon existed before the demons were ported in. So I think it just means the demons all get sent back to where they were before they were sent there. I don’t think it means all creatures killed got rezzed and so Esil will die. I think she’ll be fine. But it’s just a thought and possibly cope.

...and it shouldn't be. It was a great episode. Jinwoo's payoff for everything he was working towards. Apparently there are some morons out there that think crying because one's mother came back from a coma is cringe. Very stupid take.

Where do you get that information from? A few random comments don't reflect everyone's opinion. If I check IMDb, for example, the episode isn't even close to being rated badly or as the worst of the series.

Rockycitygirl

It's insane. It's not some political BS either. I'm right wing and respect manly men. That said, anyone insulting a buff biker dude crying at his mother's funeral (or something), shouldn't be shocked when he whips their ass. Stoic tough guys can cry too, when it's appropriate. Your mother waking up from a coma is appropriate.

I legit cannot believe this episode got so much shit and called Solo Leveling’s worst episode. That angers me to no end.

Joshua Finkelstein

I think Jinwoos mom was so calm, 1-moms, likes fathers, need to be strong for their kids and 2-she knew she was sick so she had time to accept the fact she may never wake up. But I think mainly she’s just an emotionally strong woman.

Joshua Finkelstein

I hope I didn’t do the math wrong because I suck at math, but if 1 hour in dungeon is 1 day in real world then Jinwoos dad was in the dungeon 240 years.

Joshua Finkelstein

-gasp- did Stephie just slyly imply she doesn’t like Jews? :)

Joshua Finkelstein

I get what your saying about it being selfish but also no one chooses to awaken with power nor can he just give it away he’s stuck with it and after seeing so much death and pain you just can’t take it anymore just like how Joohee is B rank but only did small raids because no matter how strong you are if your fear and trauma get in the way when it counts your just a liability which is worse you also go to put yourself first sometimes and just live your life

I think some shows keep delaying resolving the main issues of their story because they are afraid they'll be unable to renew the interest. As a writer if you're unable to reinvent yourself, you just keep dragging things on -_-. So imho it's just poor storytelling. It's the same as for why writers are afraid of killing their main characters, especially if they invested a lot in that character.

15:00 Funny how that literally what happened in the manwha: the doctor tried to keep her under bs pretense to study her and understand what happened, and only abandonned the idea because Jin-Woo is a S rank. That's one of the cut content from the adaptation. Great intuition you had.

Fabien

Im glad that they cut a lot of the demon tower stuff though, all those floors probably could have taken many episodes. and they are getting to this juju island arc reasonable fast. I was worried it would be many years before I saw this arc .

Yeah, so said last time and am gonna say it again You guys can watch the OP now

If you guys are interested, Aninews on YouTube has a series where he goes over what was cut from Manga and graphic novel and just gives more context on the anime. Like how jin woo burnt his mother and other things. Has been spoiler free so far

Seeing “tough” characters cry and drop their guard completely hits different for me. Reminds me of a main character of a video game that had over 6 sequels, and only truly broke down once. I rarely ever tear up, but Sung Jin Woo crying tears of joy that his Mom is finally okay, and with him brings the waterworks for me.

A small information 😶‍🌫️😶‍🌫️ The reason Sung Jinwoo's father, Sung II-Hwan, is so ridiculously strong and powerful is tied to his time spent in the dungeon. When he was trapped in the dungeon for 10 years, time flowed differently. The Red Gate incident showed that for every day inside, only one hour passed in the real world. This means that Sung Il-Hwan likely spent a much longer time inside the dungeon, training and gaining strength in ways that regular hunters wouldn't have the opportunity to. The dungeon's time manipulation played a huge role in him becoming so powerful, explaining why he's so strong when he returns!

Since Anime doesn't say it, but the reason Jinwoo accidentally burned his mom when he was a kid is he was trying to be nice a wash her hair for her, but being a kid he made the water boiling hot and instead of scolding him she made sure he wasn't injured. You know true mom energy all the way there

Another scene that was skipped in the anime was the fight between the Knight Guild Master and the Japanese translator before the S-rank hunters' battle. In the manhwa, this moment helped build up the tension and showed the rivalry between the hunters.

NeonBaka

Every time they introduce a new S rank hunter, immediately my first question is "could they beat jinwoo?". 😅 And I always hope they could. I don't want jinwoo to be the strongest human already :D

Honeybadger

Steph was absolutely right! In the manhwa, the senior doctor initially says they cannot discharge her and need to run more tests. But then, when the second doctor mentions that she's the mother of the 10th S-rank hunter, his expression completely changes, and he immediately agrees to discharge her. The anime has skipped quite a few small details from the manhwa, especially some of the funny moments of Sung Jinwoo. While the adaptation is still amazing, I do miss those little scenes that added more personality to the story!

NeonBaka

I love this anime too much man the animation is just PEAK

Flontiii

5:11 oh wes how accurate you were. In the manga it was all over “solo levelling” Instagram as someone clicked a picture of it. In fact there was a scene where both the chairman and baek felt the force when kaisel was flying over.
