Whilst Canute wants actual material results (land, money and the authority to carry out his design), he wants to re-shape life in a fundamental way and throughout history that has always led to bloodshed (French Revolution for example), he understands that his goal must be paid in blood (because in reality, if he just asked nicely the Jarls would kill him), Thorfinn can afford passive talk, Canute can't.

This show is extremely painful to watch💀the second hand embarassment I had during my watch is crazy. But this is a canon event every army has to watch this show okay😭sure it’s cringe…and yes I had to pause several times to take a walk around my room because I was so embarassed.
