For the Afghanistan question, poppies are drought-tolerant. They can survive in a dry climate. It doesn't rot. It's easy to transport through the mountains. Value per kg is high. It can function as a form of currency in a country without stable banks. Unemployment is high. And finally, decades of instability provided a lawless environment. They did ban it in 2022 though. It seems Myanmar took over.

Mosley implied Tommy was testing him for weaknesses, which neither drugs, women or alcohol seem to be. Poll's suggestions to Mosley were intended to find out about his vices, and his socially well adjusted rejection of the offers also rejected the inquiry to his weaknesses
