2026-02-07 21:05:44 +0000 UTCZero Hand's beam attack is just "as blinding as a star", it's not literally like a star, it's just a flowery description to illustrate how bright it is lol

2026-01-18 03:02:27 +0000 UTCNetero's Nen ability is a combination of numerous categories of Nen. He's doing a similar thing as Kastro except he's actually pulling it off successfully. He uses Emission to separate aura from his body, Transmutation to mold the aura into the shape and structure of the statue, Enhancement to strengthen the statue and its attacks, and Manipulation to move and control the statue. His natural category is Enhancer, like Gon.

2026-01-02 04:19:11 +0000 UTC2 months late but I didn't see it in the comments... Netero loses the same limbs that he did not use during the Hunter Exam when playing with Gon and Killua. They are also the same limbs you do not see during the opening.

2025-12-28 01:18:25 +0000 UTCA tiny thought I had watching this fight was that when Meruem was lecturing Netero on his very existence, that because humans are individualistic, it felt like he was an allegory and symbol of WW2 Japan who was essentially saying "you can't win because westerners are too individualistic, and we Japanese are one unit" pretty much, so seeing the Neter-bomb (I totally forgot everything about this fight) I really wonder if this really might have been an allegory or representation of WW2 wrapped up in just 2 characters. Not for any kind of commentary or anything, but as a mechanism for raising the bar and intensity of the fight. Like you said, it's like watching a new God and an old one duke it out. What if their fight was like watching the pure horror and destruction of an entire infamous war unfold in one battle? That kinda thing? Probably not, but it's a cool thought

2025-10-31 11:00:53 +0000 UTCNetero: goes all out and manages only a bit of superficial damage to Meruem's exoskeleton. Anime Oppenheimer: "Tag me in, bro..."

2025-10-31 03:56:18 +0000 UTCWhat netaro said could also be read as “you have no idea the endless malice in the human heart”

2025-10-31 02:13:16 +0000 UTCWas such a long wait for these eps but they are finally here. IMO these two and eps 130+131 are really the only ones that absolutely have to be watched together, so hopefully get a three parter for that next pair since it really kills the mood built up in 130 to then start 131 separately. Also was funny how many times up til now Wes was just praying for a nuke and now we get to end a duel with a bang lol

2025-10-31 00:51:25 +0000 UTCThe last part of the fight is brilliant. I don’t want to say too much because I don’t want to spoil anything, but everything in that scene makes a powerful statement about humanity, progress, and recent history.

2025-10-31 00:15:33 +0000 UTCThere is a specific reason why Netero was drawn like a demon. Netero spent his whole life learning and teaching martial arts, and he even started the most influential Nen martial arts school (Shingen-Ryu). Martial arts are based on honour and respect for the opponent. When Netero told the King his name, he was admitting defeat — yet he still had a hidden “sucker punch” prepared, even though the King had beaten him fair and square. The use of the bomb goes against everything Netero stood for throughout his life. He had to use this demonic weapon, which in this case represents the embodiment of humanity’s evolution — humanity’s evil. He was drawn that way because he accepted that he would do something he despises and something so dishonourable: using an evil weapon.

2025-10-30 22:05:57 +0000 UTCI can't remember where I read it, but Netero saying "humans infinite potential for evolution," is said the same way as "humans unlimited potential for malice," or something similar in Japanese. It depends how it's written that it's a different word Edit: someone with much more knowledge on this explained it in the comments already!

2025-10-30 21:21:13 +0000 UTCPeople are talking about different translations but the original line can be read in two ways, because that's the flexibility of Japanese. "You understand nothing of humanity's infinite potential for evolution." The kanji/character used in that line is the one for "malice", but the accompanying furigana (intended reading for the character) is "evolution". So you have two readings: - You understand nothing of humanity's infinite potential for evolution. - You understand nothing of humanity's infinite potential for malice. The first reading skews more positive, and triumphant. Humanity as a species has been evolving, improving and iterating. Certainly on a technological level. The Rose is a testament to this. Humans are incredibly adaptable, and when faced with evolutionary challenges (in this case, the Ants) we learn how to deal with them. The second reading is more of a critique or rather acknowledgement of the capacity for evil that humanity has shown throughout history, and to this day in various forms. Like an old man lecturing a youngster. The Ants came into existence recently, but humanity has had centuries of experience of malice. Humanity is both capable of boundless progress and limitless cruelty. This double reading ties perfectly into the themes of the arc, and how it started with innocent villagers being butchered by the terrifying Ants, yet at this moment in time, you see the higher-evolved Ants coming into touch with their humanity more (Meruem, Pitou, Welfin, ... ) while our human characters become more ruthless (Gon, Netero, ... ).

2025-10-30 19:20:16 +0000 UTCI see it as a "This isn't even my final form" thing. It says more about the untapped potential and less about the actual bomb that was used. Even though this already looks devastating given enough money, time and effort, humans could create even larger and more powerful weapons/bombs.

2025-10-30 18:35:30 +0000 UTCMeruem, King of the Ants, the culmination of all species in the known world, with the untapped nen potential of every human he's eaten VS Netero, the pinnacle of all fighters who transcended his human limits, aided by humanity's ultimate weapon. What a fight and one of the most epic fights in fiction! Remember when Killua and Hisoka wanted to challenge Netero. Netero couldn't have asked for a better end. Throughout his life, he was sick of having no equal, as he said during the fight, "He's laughing? Well, I'm enjoying myself also, so I can't blame him," so this was what he truly lived for. Bisky once said Netero was a twisted chairman who assigned tasks that would take far longer than it should take, even for hunters, goes to show that he was a man who wanted people to go beyond their limits. If Hisoka was a character who lived to fight strong opponents, Netero was a more cracked version, with much less fulfilment. That being said, Mereum's durability is insane.

2025-10-30 18:22:36 +0000 UTCLow budget does now mean in this context a low quality product. It's more like "wow this is surprisingly high quality for how affordable it is to make." It's why it was mass produced.

2025-10-30 18:17:57 +0000 UTCWas it Steph that initially had the idea just to Nuke them? Whelp, congratulations- they took your suggestion. 😭 I do love that at the very start of the fight almost every shot had falling rubble going in slow motion just to give us as the audience an idea of how fast everything happening from Meruem & Netero was…

2025-10-30 18:10:11 +0000 UTCAlso the ” you know nothing of the infinite potential of evolution in the human race” has another translation. “ You know nothing of the bottomless malice within the human Heart” which imo sounds better and more metal as the last words of a dying old man.

2025-10-30 17:44:24 +0000 UTC- Bomb was planted in Netero's torso. - He gave him his name because he was admitting defeat there and went with their contingency plan. - Glad you actually picked up on the budget line. The bomb wasn't anything state of the art from a national Super Power. - Mereum is so mixed up I don't think he had a past life. He's not Gyro if that was what you were saying .
