Maybe this is a sign to rewatch the drama with you guys since people seem to like it so much. Can't remember much of the plot. I just remember that apart from Choi hyun wook's character, the drama annoyed me so much I stopped watching even though I was at the latter half😭. I liked it at the beginning though

Yay I'm so happy you started this drama! I've been looking forward to this since I just finished my Intro to Deaf Culture course 😊! I saw the look of confusion(?) on Wes' face during the CODA scene, and yes, hearing children of Deaf adults are called CODAs standing for Child of Deaf Adult. There is also KODA where the K stands for "Kid" to represent an actual child. But as far as I know most people use CODA. Not so fun fact: At some point in the reaction you were talking about phones and how technology has advanced so far, when young Eun-gyeol was on FaceTime with his dad. And I was thinking about how the dude who invented the telephone, was actually integrated with the Deaf community of his. He had a Deaf mother and Deaf wife! The not-so-fun fact comes from the fact that he was a strong promoter/believer in oralism (prioritizing speech/oralism over sign language) and did cause great harm to the Deaf community :C through that since he opened a school for the Deaf that was focused on the oralism method. There is a movie that was released in 1985 called "Love Is Never Silent" that I had to watch for class, but I believe is a genuinely good movie (made me cry 😭) that's about a CODA and it features Deaf actors who played the Deaf parents! I highly recommend watching it on your own. Anyways enough of this long comment lol! When I share info I tend to go overboard 😂.

excited to watch this for the first time alongside you guys

Molly Clifford

I follow a few disabled people on yt and learned that everything we find convenient was actually made by and for disabled people, and we just benefitted off of it. Like speech to text, screen readers, video chat capabilities on phones, AI functions on phones were just a few Molly Burke listed. Also things we don't think about, like makeup brands who use containers with flat edges as opposed to round, or who put detailed information on the bottles like "warm neutral" (for blind people to use makeup, they need help from sighted people or AI photo readers. Now there's even a new AI that if you take a picture of a few shades, it will describe them to you) and they make bigger, more easily holdable ends of mascara or liner and things for people with mobility issues. These all come from trying to make the world more accessible 😊
