The Week That Was: 11/08 - 11/12/2021

Greetings Nextlanders! Hope you all had a solid week, and are having a solid weekend. Speaking of ends, this week was a week of conclusions for us, as we wrapped up multiple long-term plays of a few different games. This means we'll be changing some things up in the near future, but we'll still have plenty of new content coming down the pipes. In the meantime, here's everything we done posted in the last week!

The Amazing Hitmarathon -- Episode 07

You know, given that our Hitmarathoners completed a full run of Hitman 3 earlier this year, maybe we should have realized these maps would go by quick. I just don't think any of us were prepared for it to be "all six maps in one episode" quick. Hope you all enjoyed this murder marathon, and rest assured, we will definitely come back to competitive assassinatin' in the future.

Nextlander Jumps into the Elden Ring Network Test

Brad and Vinny had a chance to play some of that Elden Ring! That's it. That's pretty much the whole headline. Oh, you want to know how it was? Well watch this video! They tell you, and show you pretty much all about how it was. Spoiler: they think it's pretty good.

Vinny and Alex Play Dark Pictures: House of Ashes -- Part 03

You know, Vinny and I had some trepidation at the outset of this one, given the setting and the, well, let's say pulpy tone these games tend to have. But overall? This one pretty much sticks the landing. Does everyone survive? Oh, good lord no. But I think I'm pretty satisfied with who made it out.

Weekly Ramblecast 022: Give it Some Give

On this week's rambling podcast, we debate the possible merits of a kilt-based lifestyle, admit to some highly questionable nerd purchases, consider which side of the Daylight Savings divide we each fall on, and explain to Brad that, yes, erotic cakes are real.

The Nextlander Podcast 023: A Five-Dog Spread

On this week's main show, we go deeper into that Elden Ring network test, tumble all the way down the Inscryption spoiler well, and come to the conclusion that as much fun as Forza Horizon 5 is, we would never want to spend any time with these people under any circumstances, and wouldn't even want to occupy the same time zone this festival was happening in. Plus, a special bonus interview with Superbrothers' Craig Adams, discussing their latest release, JETT: The Far Shore!

Absolutely Alex Mornings: Ghosthunter -- Part 06

I think there is a lot of value in going back to the things you enjoyed when you were younger and not only reassessing what you felt back then, but reconnecting with the person you were back then. That's a very dramatic way to preface that I don't think Ghosthunter, a game I reviewed in 2003, is quite as good as I remembered, but I had a good time revisiting it regardless. Hard to argue with a surprise giant ghost hunting robot, no matter how badly it controls.

Brad Goes VR in Resident Evil 7 -- Part 04

We learn some very important things on this week's Resident Evil 7 play. We learn that I maybe look a little too much like the brother character for comfort, we learn that surprise grandmas can happen anywhere, any time, and we learn that those who fail to learn from disastrous birthday parties of the past are doomed to repeat them.

Nextlander and Grand Theft Auto Trilogy: The Definitive Edition

You have likely heard the wild stories and seen the even wilder clips of this thing going around, and while we (un?)fortunately don't run into any of that really buck wild stuff, we do manage to make some good old fashioned GTA-brand chaos happen.

---

And that was the week! As I said at the top, we'll have some different stuff on the schedule for next week, so keep an eye out for that on Monday. Thank you as always for your continued support, and have yourselves a great rest of your weekend!
