The Week That Was: 01/03 - 01/07/2022

Happy New Year, everyone! As you may have guessed by the abundance of things posted to the Patreon this past week, we are back! Are we better than ever? I'll let you be the judge of that as I take you through all the stuff we posted in the first week of two thousand and twenty two.

Alex Discovers the Wonders of Binary Domain (01/03/2021)

We kick the year off by closing the loop on an end-of-year playthrough of Binary Domain. We learn way more this week about the mechanics of human/robot reproductive systems than we ever expected to, and yet still not nearly enough for any of this to make any sense. But who cares! Bo is back! The whole gang is here, and our respect meters could not be any higher!

Weekly Ramblecast 030: The New Big Dig

On our first rambling cast back from the break, we dig into the merits of bitrate over resolution, consider whether in this day of remasters and director's cuts such a thing as a "correct" version of a movie can exist, lament the lack of behind-the-scenes extras in this streaming-heavy world, and marvel at the fact that something as buck wild as Who Framed Roger Rabbit? was ever allowed to exist.

Monthly Planorama 008: January 2022

Look. OK. Just...OK, listen, here's the thing...it's...alright. I'll just say it. This is a bad January. But! We still find a few games on this exceedingly dry release month to get a little excited about.

The Nextlander Podcast 031: Alex Narrativaro

For our first 2022 podcast, we naturally wrap up our look back at 2021's best games, starting with our final subcategory of Best Story, before working our way through our individual top 10 lists, and eventually making a team top 10 with a DEFINITIVE Game of the Year. What will it be? You'll just have to listen to find out!

AND AS A VERY SPECIAL BONUS FOR PATRONS, you can watch a video version of our deliberations right here.

AND AS ANOTHER VERY SPECIAL BONUS FOR PATRONS AND NON-PATRONS ALIKE, Vinny, Brad, and myself all wrote about our individual top 10s, which you can find right here:

Patron's Choice for December 2021: Ape Escape 2!

To close out the week, we were overdue for a Patron's Choice stream, and by a SINGLE VOTE, you chose to watch me reacquire a number of apes that have escaped! I bust out the PS2 and my RetroTink, and throw in my copy of Ape Escape 2. WARNING: This stream will make you badly wish Sony still made Ape Escape games. If it doesn't, you may want to seek medical attention.

---

And that was the week! As always, thank you for your continued support of this project. We wouldn't be here in 2022 without all of you, and because that rhymes, we're gonna end it on that note. Take care, and here's to what we hope is an even better year.
