The Nextlander Watchcast Episode 102: The Hidden (1987)

On this week's Watchcast we continue our loose theme of films featuring Twin Peaks actors that also happen to take place in Los Angeles and have memorable soundtracks with the 1987 sci-fi/horror/action romp, The Hidden! Also when Wes Craven was filming Scream 4 he came to the history of horror class the semester before I took it. One of my greatest regrets is not taking that class a semester sooner.

I've met Bob Shaye. He came to our New Line Cinema class when I was getting my film degree. He was fun. Thinks a lot of himself, unsurprisingly, but a fairly easygoing guy. This was in 2011 or so so I'm sure he was a bigger bastard back in the day before all that LOTR money. Also how big an asshole are you going to be to a class of 20 year olds?

Why do half of the cops have micro uzis?

I'm on Alex's side with this. The Hidden rules. This will occupy my brain for a while, more than other movies that probably deserve my time of day more.

Holy crap. I saw Supernova for my birthday that year. I learned a valuable lesson from that movie. Never trust the trailer. Especially if you are 14.

I watched this last Thursday in anticipation of the podcast. The stuff with the older guy being awkward throughout LA had to be the inspiration for Vincent D'Onofrio in Men in Black. Also, I was pleasantly surprised by car stunt work in this one. Had no expectation that it would have all that too.

Raymond Terry

I don't know this film, and this disquiets me.
