2024-10-25 15:34:58 +0000 UTCOh absolutely, the main reason people love OG SH2 though is the story and the thematic symbolism, & I think those parts of the game absolutely hold up, & this remake does a great job of preserving that stuff. It was tough hearing Brad talk about that throwback survival horror game he was playing and mentioning all the the Twin Peaks style cerebral, surrealist elements and having an enemy who is essentially a callback to Pyramid Head and be seemingly unaware of the direct callback and tribute to Pyramid Head from Silent Hill 2. But it is what it is. There's a lot about OG SH2 that has aged, but the story & subtle symbolism of its themes isn't one of them as evidenced by this remake.

I didn't play much silent hill (other than the first one) when each released so I do not have affinity for them and do not find any of them to be objectively "good" games. However I did play every Resident Evil game and despite knowing they are absolutely schlocky experiences, I still love each one. Different strokes for different folks.

2024-10-24 01:09:41 +0000 UTCSad none of the Nextlander cast has any history with one of the single greatest stories in the history of video games, the original Silent Hill 2. Luckily, this is a fairly faithful remake storyline-wise, I think you would dig it, Brad, especially since you're one of 5 people who liked Calisto Protocol, & the melee-dodges in this game are fairly similar.
