The archivist in me is bothered that this is episode 182, but the video is titled episode 181.. it hurts my soul..

Legion Vs Ninja

My NAS right now is ZFS +2 with 8 20tb drives, so 120tb usable storage. At the time (a year ago when I upgraded) you had to keep an eye out for deals but could get the 20tb Red Pros for $300 a piece. So, it's still pricey but you can use pretty high capacity drives at a decent price now.

Glasses look like something a fighter pilot would wear. Not bad.

Castor Troy

Big fan of those glasses, would go for them myself

Joey

I dig the glasses Brad. I really should go purge all my old HDMI cables as well...

Pixel Clock

Love the glasses Brad, very fetching

Vinny, the storage medium you're probably looking for is LTO tapes. Make a couple copies, one local and at least one other off-site, and just know it'll take a while to get the content back off whenever you want it. The tape drives are expensive and fiddly but the tapes are reliable and relatively cheap compared to hard drives.

Yes this! If you have anything TB1 or TB2 you need a cable for, getting a new one is really pricey so it's better to keep the old one. I had to get one a few years back and even a very short cable was super expensive. Also yeah those adapters work great. I use one to connect my ARM Mac to an old Thunderbolt Display.

Ben Hardy

For the voice chat stuff, we use the xbox overlay to voice chat, the windowskey + G one.

Dorren Andrews

Don't throw away your old Thunderbolt cables! They were, and remain, rather pricey. The Thunderbolt 1 & 2 cables shared the same connector as Mini DisplayPort, while 3-5 have USB-C connectors. But that's just the connectors β€” the cables are unique and cannot be substituted with anything else. To plug an older Thuderbolt 1-2 device into a newer Thunderbolt port all you need is an adapter cable, Apple sells it for $50: https://www.apple.com/shop/product/MYH93AM/A/thunderbolt-3-usb-c-to-thunderbolt-2-adapter

Also not seeing this one in my membership podcast feed.

Is there a reason this one isn't showing in my membership podcast feed like it usually does?
