Agreed on The Jaunt. Terrifying. King is so good in short form. Also weirdly makes me think of "The Witch" by Shirley Jackson. Similar absolutely creeping dread and the ending left me kinda shook. All in about 20 pages (maybe less?).

The plants being not green thing is real. There is a compound similar to chlorophyll that is actually purple, and biologists have postulated it would be more efficient simply due to its purple color.

There is a lot room for game tech to grow when it comes to physics. Cars may look photorealistic but we are far below the destruction physics of the old Burnout games.
