Weekly Ramblecast 228: The New New Math

Comments

One of my most vivid college memories is that I was working on circuit problems involving transistors and I had to solve a design problem that involved calculating voltages on the transistor given certain parameters. I worked out the voltage and it was like 1 million volts or something absurd. So I proceeded to repeat the problem for like 3 hours only to keep getting absurd numbers. Eventually I gave up and just turned the homework in only to find out from a grad student who graded the assignment that they had put the wrong numbers in the problem so you could work out the math but the actual circuit wasn't possible. The moral of the story is that math is fun lol

Good to hear Poltergeist holds up to new viewers. I too saw that when I was probably 6-7 and it had many iconic scenes that stuck with me. Last month I took a trip to do some So Cal theme parks and that included Universal Studios and happened to be the first night of their Halloween Horror Nights. One of the mazes was Poltergeist and it had EVERYTHING. Moving steak, jump scare actor reaching their arm out of a TV static wall, ripped up face guy, animatronic tree. The works. Pretty much the progression of the movie through various rooms in the house to eventually into the closet, through pink fabric tunnel, seeing the ghost head, and then out to the back yard walking past rows and rows of coffins. Probably not the most intense maze on it's own but certainly great to see manifest as a life long fan.
