I want to give you an update about some scandals from the show! 1. Geonwoo's scandal is a little murky but from what it seems he was just a strict leader and not a bully (there have been a few old trainees and debuted idols who spoke in support of him and said the initial allegations were exaggerated). So, Kfans generally support him now while international reception is still 40/60 (imo if koreans, who are hypersensitive about bullying allegations, support him than I'm inclined to believe he wasn't a bully because they would cancel him without a doubt if he was, and because they know more about the work culture and what isn't and is okay so they'd know moreso what would cross the line). The whole Geonwoo situation in general reminds of the AOA Jimin situation where a mentally ill member of her group (named Mina) came out, self-harmed on social media, alleged Jimin would bully her and slandered her. Jimin was cancelled and bullied relentlessly, but as time passed on, people understood how mentally ill Mina was and how Mina's stories would start having holes. Other AOA members spoke in support of Jimin and what actually happened was that Jimin was the leader, was pretty strict, and would correct people who wouldn't seriously train. Mina wouldn't listen to her at times and Jimin would call her out and try to lead her while trying to keep the group going. Mina interpreted it as bullying, alleged Jimin would torment her, etc. when her group members actually said the opposite. Geonwoo's accuser, after he alleged bullying, sorta did the same thing with a few other idols, made some inconsistent comments, etc. So, I do think Geonwoo was relativelyyyy innocent but that's just my perspective. 2. Nian Boheng had a mini scandal but his thing turned out false and no one believed it much. Basically someone came online, alleged he was a little pushy with dating, and made her uncomfortable. People quickly noticed fabricated screenshots, timelines that didn't make sense, etc. It was fake and the person deleted their account after people pointed out they wouldn't have been able to meet him in a club because he was a minor during the time they allegedly met. Nian Boheng is innocent but he was cancelled for like 12 hours it was a little crazy but no one cares anymore. 3. Sihwan's situation is more serious, sexual harassment and assault. There is a lot of proof of his actions, including photos, screenshots, things that really seem undeniable and basically every international fan doesn't like him. Somehow, he has a lot of Japanese fans and a small amount of Korean fans, but I really do think it's because they don't know about his scandal to begin with. He and his company have never addressed them so it's going under the radar for some people because no company is really acknowledging it or giving it a bigger platform. 4. Junseo is having a pretty big scandal rn. From this episode, he's been getting some pushback for not helping Donggyu/the team much. I could write essays on the Bad Team but I'll keep in short because this comment is already long - if you want more details about the Bad team scandal message me! But basically, the pushback from him not helping on the team also blew up some other scandals he was having outside the show - including a rumored girlfriend, acknowledging an anti-feminist comment, going golfing (which has some negative connotations). He has a big fanbase so I think he will be okay but he is facing a lot of hate online rn, especially on the Korean side. This is a short version of everything! But, like I said, the Junseo situation is a lot more complicated and requires a lot of nuance because there is a little bit of evil editing, a little bit of cultural context a lot of international fans aren't really recognizing, and an age dynamic at play.
