New issue / fund drive goal!

Greetings, patrons! Apologies for the relative radio silence here -- and the lack of a fund drive graph yesterday -- unfortunately the end of the fund drive has collided with a day-job business trip, which leaves me stealing time between other tasks to send out updates.

The handsome chap adorning this post is Mort, cat of our senior reviews editor Maureen Kincaid Speller (we did  promise you occasional pet photos) and he is, apparently, delighted that we've reached 200 patrons. I think he looks slightly alarmed,  personally, but perhaps I am not sufficiently attuned to the nuances of his expressions.

(You can see more of Mort's thoughts on the fund drive over at Maureen's Twitter.)

Anyway! As well as reaching 200 patrons, we have in fact reached our overall fund drive goal this year -- there's now over $18,000 donated or pledged, enough to fully fund the magazine in 2016. Thank you all! So, naturally, we announced a couple of stretch goals, and in fact we've already hit the first of those: as of 1 January 2016, we'll be increase pay for poems to $40. We've got twelve hours left in the fund drive: can we hit the other two goals, I wonder?

More importantly (since you've all already supported us), you'll want to know that we've published this week's issue, which features a short sharp story by Ani King, a long lovely poem by Shveta Thakrar, an interview with this month's artist Rachel Kahn, and reviews of books by Yoshinaga Fumie, Anthony Trevelyan, and Robert Charles Wilson. Enjoy!

Hopefully, I'll be back in the next couple of days with a slightly less rushed round-up of the final fund drive total. And next Monday, of course, we'll be releasing our October ebook, with all of the above plus everything else from this month's issues. See you then.
