February 2021 Newsletter

It's February! The cold month. We all know it's called that. Everyone calls it that. If you don't call it that, then you're out of alignment.

We've had a great time with the last couple of Game Studies Study Buddies episodes, and we hope that you've been enjoying them. We did a really fun episode on Timothy J. Welsh's Mixed Realism that you will love (if you haven't already listened), and our most recent episode is on Lisa Nakamura's Cybertypes, which is a 20-year-old book that feels like it could have been written last year. Our next episode is going to be on Tara Fickle's The Race Card, and we hope you're as excited about that as we are. Remember that if you're a $3 or higher backer that you have access to our notes for the show (which you can find here).

Too Much Future keeps on trucking. Since our last Patreon post, we've covered a lot of ground. In Episode 27, we did some side quests and learned about ants. Episode 28 introduced us to some kooky kids and introduced a sleeping-focused invasion. Episode 29 sent us deep into a vault and back to Project Purity. We finished the main game in Episode 30, but never fear: there are more sidequests that we did in Episode 31. Next episode will take us into a big simulation. We're going to be in Fallout 3 for a few more episodes. Remember that if you back us at $3 a month or more you have access to an RSS feed of the show.

Just King Things is also firing on a thousand different cylinders. We did a truly massive episode on The Stand followed by a less sprawling episode on The Long Walk. Alongside that, we did bonus episodes for $5 or more patrons on The Stand miniseries (with special guest Kirk Hamilton) as well as an episode on Children of the Corn, which is better than you might think. Remember that you if you're a $5 supporter, then you can access the bonusodes here in an RSS feed or as raw mp3 files. The next episode and bonusode will be out on Monday the 8th -- join us to learn about The Dead Zone book and film!

We finished up our Elsinore let's play, heroically led by Michael, and while he cooks up his next devious experience, Mages & Murderdads is going to return. cmrn and Danni have recorded ten episodes on Disco Elysium for your watching and listening pleasure, and that bi-weekly series should appear this month for your viewing pleasure on both the YouTube channel and the M&MD RSS feed.

A new episode of the Vice City LP with a special guest should be out right after this goes up. Slowly, but surely, CMRN will complete this game.

The monthly podcast is up already. We deeply apologize for talking about yard plants for like a full hour. Watch Bad Day At Black Rock

As you might know, we're going to be doing a 13-episode Homestuck podcast once we hit 1,025 supporters, and that can be for as little as $1/month. So please let people know about us! Cajole your weirdest friends into listening to us here. We don't advertise and we only expand via word of mouth. You've all been SO AWESOME about letting people know about our stuff, and we'd love it if you continued to do that. Ranged Touch takes  a lot of work, but we do it for you...just like we do it for Steve. It's you and Steve, right there in our hearts. Anyway, thank you for supporting us, and we'll be back with another newsletter next month!
