Shelved By Genre Bonusode - Monster Manual '77
Added 2023-11-05 03:42:25 +0000 UTCWe talk the big talk about the ole Monster Manual. We've had plenty of chatter about Gene's Monster Manual, but what about the original guidebook to all the kooky kreatures of Middle Earaauuhh I mean Dungeons & Dragons?
Listen to the episode to learn about the letter D and tune in for our final ranking of all the letters of the alphabet. Or did we forget to do that?

ok and to finish my pitch, this is stuck in my head and I can't leave it alone until I write it down: it *does* do surprisingly incredibly good things. It is not just a brain-off show the whole time. There were episodes where I went "holy shit wow" afterwards, and episodes I thought they could have just flushed down the toilet. Some of the actors are sublime, some are horrible, but one of them I think should get some awards. I won't tell you know. The visual art is INCREDIBLE sometimes. I do think it would actually be worth it. You could probably do a half-season an episode (i.e. 4 SBG eps), or if you wanted it to just be a little aside you could probably bang it out in 1 SBG per season. Also it'll be interesting because probably none of you, and very few listeners, have bothered watching it, so it'll be brand new...

I was thinking, if you're looking for future Bonusode material or even main line material, and you want something that looks *incredible*, is easy to just burn through without much mental work, and is massively flawed 80% of the time but that 20% is just incredible sometimes, and has some weird parallels with Book of the New Sun -- the new Apple TV Foundation series is all those things. (It is not just the books.)
