Bolero (Air Date: 4/8/89)

(Outro 4:16)

Hapoy Humpday, homies! Tonight we have a flick I’ve never seen before, but it’s in the Drive-In Hall of Fame, so I might need to correct that soon. I also noticed one of the standees we sold in our Christmas charity auctions is in the background here, which is cute/interesting.

I hope you’re having a great week, and don’t forget that this Friday is our Mother‘s Day episode of The Last Drive-In. Hope you can join us for that! 🤠🖤

I remember Bo Derek talking about this movie in the Cannon films documentary. My favorite part was her cracking up and busting out laughing describing the plot line. “He gets gored in the d*ck, and now it won’t work anymore!”

About fucking time. MGM Plus and Showtime don't even play it anymore.

Tubi has Tough Guys Don't Dance bud

And MGM is pretty good when it comes to steaming availability on less popular movies on sites like Tubi. Can’t even find that “Oh God Oh Man!” Ryan O’Neal Cannon movie either.

I saw 10 on HBO Max recently. That "broad" scene is hilarious. As long as they don't remake THAT one with Russell Brand.

Any chance of having someone record one of the last shows? For history's sake.

I took someone to Bolero for a first date. It went about as well as you might imagine.

Timothy Crawford

Bolero isn't available to stream anywhere. Bastards.

Some good Joe Bob-isms here: "Sometimes you go to the drive-in and get chiggers on your feet," "hosed down with watercolors and used for butcher block practice," "raise male gazebos from the dead." Whose picture is that over JB's shoulder in the ask Joe Bob segment?

Celluloid Sickness

I've seen it twice (once in Tucson, and once in Gilbert) and wish I could make it out to see it one more time ;_;

I'm a big fan of grocery delivery. I've never seen Bolero, but that will have to change. I tried to watch 10 a couple of times but just couldn't get through it. I remember FFing to the end with Bo & Dudley Moore, but don't remember anything about that scene, The important thing about 10 is that it caused sales of Ravel's Bolero to skyrocket. We had couples come into the record store asking for an album that featured that music. The Ravel section suddenly had dozens of different lps that had Bolero on it. Thee sexier the lp cover, the more likely it was to sell. Surprisingly, no one was concerned about the orchestra or the record label. They just wanted that sexy music, which isn't really all that sexy.

thanks Darcy!

It’s true. And he’s only doing a couple more performances of it this year.

Off topic but does anyone know if Joe Bob is retiring from his how rednecks saved Hollywood nights after this year? I thought I had seen something to that effect somewhere and if it's true I'll be probably be heading to Sacramento in August to catch it

Aw. Thanks, Cody! Have a great night, too! 🖤

Can't wait for Friday. Hope you guys were finally able to rest, hard work I appreciate from you both. Have a great night 🖤
