Joe Bob’s Thought of the Day: Covid Edition

We're coming up on the three-year anniversary of Covid, and here's what I've learned so far:

     1. It's not spread through the air.

     2. It's spread through the air.

     3. Masks are not necessary.

     4. Masks are mandatory.

     5. Any cloth mask makes us safer.

     6. Only the KN95 mask makes us safer.

     7. The Omicron is milder than the original strain.

     8. The Omicron is often deadlier than the original strain.

     9. Ventilators are needed to save lives.

     10. People who are put on ventilators almost always die.

     11. There's a shortage of ventilators.

     12. We're not using ventilators anymore.

     13. Herd immunity will be reached when 65 percent of the country is infected or vaccinated.

     14. There's no herd immunity.

     15. Rapid tests don't work.

     16. You can't come in unless you get a rapid test.

     17. All schools should close.

     18. All schools should open.

     19. People who travel at holidays are irresponsible super-spreaders.

     20. We can all travel without KN95 masks.

     21. Covid is over.

     22. Covid is not over.

     23. Covid is no worse than the seasonal flu.

     24. Covid can still put you on your ass.

     25. Vaccinated people don't get Covid.

     26. Vaccinated people get Covid.

     27. Young people don't get Covid.

     28. Young people get Covid.

     29. Young people don't die of Covid.

     30. Young people die of Covid.

     31. The U.S. is better prepared for Covid because our big pharmaceutical companies created the most effective vaccines.

     32. All the countries of Europe, Africa and Latin America trust the American vaccines more than Americans do.

     33. 6.7 million people died of Covid, but most of those were in the first year.

     34. Most of the 6.7 million dead peple died in the most recent year.

     35. Oh well.

Comments

Watch the beginning of the movie Idiocracy.

I heard people say you still smell.

❤️❤️❤️❤️

Finally got the recent one a month ago. Only side effect I get is minor tightness in deltoid. I got the rona before the first dose. I knew something was up when I lost my sense of smell which is back but not as strong as before. Better than taste as someone who loves food. I got really sick for 3 weeks recently and that's no fun.

I’ve just become so broken up over how everything, and I mean everything, has gone down. So much to say but no words to elucidate… Mentally, I wouldn’t have made it without The Last Drive-In and the Mutant Fam these last few years. Thank you, Joe Bob, Darcy, and everyone else. 🖤

Covid became political when a weak minded president was angry that it didn't bend to his political will. Get vax'd for Covid and the flu, this year and every year.

Well stated. Thank you.

Is that one of the Tom Savini Jason masks? (cool either way 🤘)

Here’s hoping our adventure ends somewhere else!

Dr. Acula

Holy hell, we’ve learned the same things! What a coincidence. 🙃

Dr. Acula

hey this recipe sucks

I'll take a 22,24,26, and a 28....hold the cheese.

Being sick stinks, I wish you all a healthy year

I think part of the problem is that we live in an era where answers must be quick and definitive. But good science takes time. It requires study, experimentation, and a willingness to accept new information when it conflicts with a prior hypothesis. But people don't like ambiguity and they hate when statements change as more information arises. Then there are people with vested interests who take advantage of the lack of knowledge to press their political goals. Our society has become skeptical of experts to the point that "truth" is determined by how confident one's answer is. If that answer runs counter to experts it is considered even more legitimate. Science is a process and you can only do it so quickly.

I learned Harvey Danger was right about stupid people breeding. Could be worse. I could be an amputee, goddamn it.

We live in a post-truth world where truth is just a choose your own adventure book.
