Exactly! I truly don't understand why conservatives freak out over the idea of globalism and creating global society. It's what's already happening, we might as well try to do it well. I can't see any downsides to that, especially since nationalism has been the cause of so much trouble in the past. Also thanks on behalf of California to all you in Australia for coming to help with the fires. I grew up with forest fires every year where I lived in California, but that last year was one of the worst. I've heard Australian firefighters are hard as fuck from dealing with eucalyptus fires. Those trees burn if you look at them wrong.

2019-06-02 21:22:38 +0000 UTCI was up in Redding visiting family. The total disconnect in the area of Jeffersonians and the reality of the fires and recovery is amazing. My cousin takes great delight in poking fun at the hyper conservative people she lives near. It’s like they have no idea they are part of the whole world and wouldn’t be rebuilding or functional without the whole flipping world having come to their aid! Hell, we sent firefighters from Australia to help! They just don’t get it!

2019-06-02 02:43:22 +0000 UTCKurt totally reminded me with his comment about them flying State of Jefferson flags; when I grew up in that area, it was really common to see Confederate flags, either in front of houses, or fucking flying from the backs of lifted trucks driving around town. Not what I think most people would expect to see in Norcal. I also grew up a 20 minute drive from the town of Rough and Ready, CA, which actually seceeded from the US for about 3 months in 1850 to avoid mining taxes; a proud tradition of libertarian buffoonery that is preserved to the present day in the culture there. Also, so stoked to see a comment from another Norcal listener! Let's get a live show out here, PIAT crew! I know you're coming here for the wine soon, why not stay a bit longer for some dick jokes?

Stuck In Alabama Send Help

It's called tge State of Jefferson, and a bunch of rednecks want to break off chunks of Northern California and Southern Oregon to make one giant libertarian, bald-eagle-fucking, gun show loophole white supremacy state. They also want to start up all that sweet, sweet logging and mining again because fuck the environment. I grew up in this part of California, where for some reason in spite of our proximity to the most liberal parts of the nation, these rednecks spend their lives role-playing as Alabamans. There are signs up in people's lawns advertising the state of Jefferson everywhere in those counties now. On a side note, while I was growing up, we always had a bunch of signs for gun shows in the garage. My dad would steal them so less people would know about the shows and get access to the loopholes there. That only worked before the internet, and I definitely miss that.
