Tales... er... Tale From the Trenches

I did get woken up by Natalie dropping the bomb at 4AM... and I did ignore the news until well after breakfast. By the time I had found out, it was pretty much everywhere. That competitive streak inside me just kind of died a little at the time.
I started gathering my thoughts a bit on Twitter, but I couldn't help but really dwell on things. Like... why was I feeling legitimately guilty for missing a story? What could trigger that compulsion to dive headfirst back into the news feeds again? I wound up following the train of thought, and just trying to make sense of things.
Truth be told, I've been meaning to do more op-ed pieces, and I've gotten a few requests for the same from a few people, so I guess this was a perfect opportunity to start. ๐
