Quick Heads-Up: Forward to the Past
Added 2018-12-18 18:35:16 +0000 UTCGood afternoon, everyone.
Earlier this year, I mentioned that I was about to embark on an irregular article series, dubbed "Forward to the Past." At the time, I noted that these would be irregular in nature, and timed-exclusive to Patreon.
I still intend to make good on this promise. In fact, I'll be releasing our first real entry into this series at the end of the week.
I'll be chronicling the events that led up to, and through the Anime Crash of 2008. I'll be discussing the entire series of events, from the world before it happened, to the great boom, to the fallout and how it shaped the landscape we're in today.
This is a vitally important part of anime history, where the industry and fandom grew and changed in ways that nobody could have imagined at the time. Outside of hushed whispers by older fans, though, this period is being lost in consciousness of the greater subculture.
The bubble was where I cut my teeth as a journalist, and it's a time that holds great value to me, as a person. I've wanted to write about this for many years, now, and thanks to your generosity, I've been able to really start devoting time to this on my days off.
From the bottom of my heart, I thank our patrons for this opportunity.
At the suggestion of a trusted colleague, this piece will actually be released as an eBook due to its sheer size.
Each article will make up at least one full chapter of the finished book. These will never roll over to "public" like other articles, as this is something that our backers are helping to make happen.
Once the book is ready, all $5 and higher patrons will receive a finished, edited copy in a format that is readable on pretty much all popular eBook readers.
The final work should be between 30 and 50 pages, all said and done, but it could go longer, depending on how in-depth things get.
So, thank you, patrons, from the bottom of my heart. Words can't describe how grateful I am for your help in growing the Herald, and for helping to make this a reality.

2018-12-19 18:02:12 +0000 UTCI'll be doing my best to make everybody proud. :D I've been wanting to cover this for years - like, it's been in my head since 2015, when we did that podcast discussing BYAB. I just didn't know how to approach the topic, or even begin doing things properly. So... think of this as making good on that promise I made three years ago! :P (Before anyone asks: I have a near-photographic memory on details, even if I can't remember names of faces well... ^^; )
