What Is It?
This is an editorial piece, in which Ashley takes a trip to The Hive, an eSports bar in Toronto, to get a first-hand look at the growing scene for Super Famicom fighting game Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon S: Jougai Rantou!? Shuyaku Soudatsusen.
Through the piece, she discusses the game's origins and history, as well as the unique appeal that's attracted fighting game fans and Sailor Moon fans alike.
How Did Patreon Power It?
This one came about in the Anime Herald Discord channel. In December, Ashley told the room about a tweet she received, which invited her to check out a gathering of Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon S: Jougai Rantou!? Shuyaku Soudatsusen players. At the time, she mentioned that she'd like to write up an article on the scene, since the game was "[a] hidden anime fandom gem."
I was happy to give my blessing on the piece. Over the next few weeks, we hashed out the details on her desired format.
