The Editor's Desk, 12/10/2022 - *Wipes Dust Off, Whistles*

Happy holidays, everyone!

It's been a minute since I've done one of these. I'm genuinely sorry about the radio silence, as I was hoping to have these pieces go out every one or two weeks. That... kind of didn't happen, and I apologize.

On a more positive note, I'm pleased to announce that this year has been a fantastic year for Anime Herald, bringing in more than 50 articles, which have covered everything from niche anime history, to explorations of fan-favorite classics, to a full-on, magazine-style blowout of Anime Boston 2022. And, to be very honest, we wouldn't be able to do this without any of you. From the bottom of my heart, I want to say "thank you."

And now for something fun: Today is the tenth anniversary of the day that the first trailer for the original Love Live! anime TV series launched. Yep, a year ago today, we got a first glimpse into the world that wasn't in merch or music videos, as a new teaser introduced the quirky members of μ's to the greater anime community. While we all had a feeling it'd be big back then, I doubt anyone could see it still being an absolute monster to the degree it is today!

Skeith has been tearing up the pages at The Story Arc, as she's written a new article every day this month. A couple of highlights are an exploration in the recent goings-on with online game ToonTown, as well as a chronicle of her experiences running a Twitter gimmick account.

Coop Bicknell wrote a piece for ANN that explored the translations of Urusei Yatsura, both new and old. He talked with folks from Discotek and AnimEigo, while doing a genuinely impressive deep dive in this satisfying article.

Borealis Capps has been on a mission to watch every single animated adaptation of Treasure Island, ever. As part of that journey, they wrote an examination of Osamu Tezuka's own experiences with the work, and the ways the God of Manga put his own personal spin on the work in his anime adaptation.

Karel Kerezman looked at the new build of PC game Satisfactory, while showing off his massive Turbofuel Power Plant in the process.
