The Editor's Desk: 6/3/2023 - We're Back~!

Happy Saturday, and Happy Pride, everybody. As a majority-queer organization run by a trans woman, this is a time for us to stand up and reaffirm our commitment to the LGBTQIA+ community. Now, more than ever, we stand by our queer friends and colleagues, and offer our fullest support.

In Anime Herald news, things have been pretty busy, overall! We finally wrapped on our Anime Boston coverage which, were we a print magazine, would be the equivalent of a special annual issue. The con is special to me, as a home-grown event that’s been a part of my own life for twenty years now. It’s an event that I take great pleasure in attending and writing about each year, and I hope that I’m able to convey the excitement and energy that courses through the halls of the Hynes. But, more than that, I hope that you all have fun reading through the numerous articles and interviews that come out of it.

Beyond that, we’ve been hard at work in getting back to normal. We’ve published our first-ever annual report, and we’ve put out a new reader survey to get your feedback on things. But beyond that, we’re working hard to keep great articles coming your way week after week. I hope that each week brings you something fun or interesting, or makes you think about things.

• Skeith, over at The Story Arc, has been writing up every bit of information possible about mobile game, 404 Game Re:Set. From news on upcoming events and characters to game guides, she’s been building up an invaluable resource for those interested in Yoko Taro’s latest project.
• Ozaline, at Centre Spot Translations, published a retrospective piece about Fushigi Yugi, notably the way Nuriko’s death was portrayed, and how it was received both in the fan community, and by the translator.
• Sundown McMoon, from the Bomb Squad Podcast, posted the group’s latest Movie Night YouTube show. In it, they explore the 1983 cult favorite film, Rock & Rule.
• Anime Feminist's Caitlin Moore published a new article about Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure, exploring how the traits traits Stone Ocean protagonist Jolyne Cujoh inherited from her foremothers led to the indomitable spirit that led her through the arc.
