What is hope? Hope is an expectation. There is an intensity of anticipation. Confidence in your thinking. Upgraded trust and faith. Pleasurable anticipation of God regardless of circumstances.

How can we keep that hope continually? I think we have to shift our thinking. God doesn’t change. He loves us the same on our best day as He does on our worst day.

As humans, we tend to see our circumstances through human eyes….we feel good and hopeful when we are behaving well and we feel bad and hopeless when we aren’t. But that’s not how God sees us. Anyone who is in Christ, is a new creation and the old version of ourselves is dead….not cleaned up but dead and gone. God sees us through Christ’s righteousness. That is good news because righteousness is so intimidating! I have said it many times but whenever the Bible talks about the blessings that come to the righteous, I used to shrink back. “That doesn’t apply to me.” What a lie from the pit of hell!

We are in right standing with God when we have agreed with Him on how to receive that righteousness…..and it’s not because we do everything right. It’s because we know we don’t and that we have to rely on Jesus as the way.

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come 2 Corinthians 5:17
