It was too long and dragged in parts. End. The. Movie. Already. But it was fun, pretty and sparklie. I liked how the raccoon looked- fur is difficult and time consuming, so I respected the craftsmanship.
And I liked that they blew up god's brain.

Yeah the sisters arc was one of my favorites in the movie - it could have been pretty standard fair but I felt like they took a good approach to it

Just saw it. Watching this, I felt exactly like when I was a kid at the movies. So much fun. Lovable characters, a funny atmosphere, colourful visuals. I loved it!

I can understand where Jay is coming from about the Gamora-Nebula story ark, and about Nebula being a weaker character, like I feel like I can understand his perspective, but that final scene with them at the end had me in tears.. Which was really bizarre. I think its amazing that the first scene ever from an MCU movie to bring me to that place emotionally, involves a character who would typically be (and was close to being, without the touches of that story ark) nothing more than a one note stock villain, like she was in the first film..

I thought the Star Treky plot was also very "The Search" from DS9 in addition to "Adonis" from TOS.

Just rewatched the first one. Yup - the raccoon definitely hits uncanny valley territory for me. I know he's technically not "real", but I know what real raccoons look like and they've chosen such a naturalistic approach for his animation that it's definitely applicable, just like the buffalo herd in The Revenant. It's a good movie, but that character doesn't work for me as well as it should.

The end sounded like something from Radiohead's OK Computer. Not sure if that was an intentional reference (prolly not) but it'd have worked! Fun episode, I do wonder though (not having seen Vol. 2): am I the only one who thinks that the raccoon character is in the uncanny valley? They chose a very naturalistic design for him and every comedic line he delivers somehow doesn't really fit to the animation 100%. It's not terrible, but I can't "unsee" that and it's particularly hurtful in comedic moments, imo. It's 90% there, but not quite.

That ending is strangely enjoyable, so hypnotic.
