Weekly Update #180

I forgot to write this sooner. I also started writing this before midnight last night. It's now 7am due to me getting distracted and accidentally falling asleep.

Anyways, it was an alright week. I got a bit distracted because, halfway through the week, Deep Rock Galactic updated, and so I couldn't stop thinking about it which distracted me. I tend to have that problem whenever something I've been really looking forward to comes out. All I want to do is drop everything I'm doing to go no-life it. But I don't let myself drop everything which results in me just thinking about it a lot while not being able to focus on what I need to do, aka writing.

But I did  get everything done!

And while I'm on that topic... FFXIV was delayed by two weeks. It's not coming out until early December now which puts me in a difficult position.

I originally planned on taking the week off for FFXIV later in this month since it would also line up with taking Thanksgiving week off which I usually do. I'd still like to take Thanksgiving week off, but I also want to take FFXIV's release week off. But then if I do that, I'd also want to take Christmas week off like always. That would be 3 weeks of time off in total within like a month of time. And if I don't take Thanksgiving week off to instead just take FFXIV and Christmas off, then that would be 2 weeks off in the same month. I'm probably going to end up doing something like that, though. Early access to FFXIV from preordering the expansion starts on December 3rd. I could get everything I need done that week before the 3rd since it's on a Friday, take off the 8th - 12th, write 15th - 19th, take off 22nd - 26th, then write that last week again. So it would be a month of chapters -> break -> chapters -> break -> chapters, and then no more breaks until Easter week. And that includes writing through my birthday since it'll be during the writing week of 15 - 19.

Blah.

I'm probably going to do that. Forego taking off Thanksgiving week this year so that I can take off two weeks next month instead. I'd feel way too guilty trying to get 3 weeks off in that short of a time. Even having 2 weeks off in the same month feels bad to me. But it's my birthday and Christmas month, and Endwalker's new release month, and I'm skipping taking Thanksgiving off, so I'll just force myself to get over it. It'll be a nice way to spend the last month of the year.

So, I won't take off the week I originally wanted to this month, and instead December will have 2 and a half weeks of writing and 2 weeks off.

Aside from that, this weekend has been nice. A cold front has finally hit Florida which means, instead of every day being up in the upper 80s, it's been in the low 70s and 60s all weekend. It's a fucking miracle, I tell you. I actually got to wear one of my good, Irish sweaters for once.

27 hours, 16,676 words, which is a bit disappointing, but I'll try to do better this week.

The True Endgame

Alright. Just one more Eva chapter. It's fun showing off different places and people and I didn't wrap up what I wanted to with her yet, so that means we'll be seeing her and Manoel's adventure for one more chapter. And it is definitely going to be an adventure this next time.

Meadow time! Well, more Meadow time. And next chapter will have even more Meadow time, now featuring ear play.

Lazy Dragon Queen

Nothing like starting off a new volume with the protagonist talking to themselves. Not just talking to themselves, but actually having a written conversation with themselves treated like a normal conversation. That was fun to write. But it will be even more fun to write Drake actually getting his hands on Mariet and Claire again.

Dominion Expansion

Honestly, seeing as how DE has been my biggest flop of a story ever, I'm probably not going to make myself strictly stick to the 5 chapters a week thing, which I already haven't been in case you haven't noticed. But I've still been doing at least 3 chapters a week, which brings it up to the same average total for my other stories. Everything else gets about 3k words average a week while DE has been getting 5k on average. So, I won't feel too bad about sometimes not putting out 5 chapters.

That aside, I'm not sure where I should end this volume at since it's already at a full volume's length. I should probably make it a bit longer and end it after the current war stuff. We'll see.

In Closing

I'm very tired now and want to go back to sleep. So, I'm going to do that, then I shall wake up and do that "writing" thing.
