While you still have daylight, you should go to the train station and ask about prices for a train ticket to various points further towards the Crystal Empire. And getting a map would help out, if there's someone in town who sells maps. If you can't afford a ticket directly to the Empire, you may have to take the trip in stages. Once you have that worked out, maybe you should ask Braeburn if he knows anyone along your planned route who might be willing to help out.
