Timberwolves are weak to fire. So perhaps if you just use your Flame ability, you can ward off timberwolves. However, you currently only have enough energy for a one time use. So if you want to use it, you may have no choice but to rest. The question is, do you trust that the changeling will last long enough to allow you time for rest? Perhaps there's an alternative of asking the Plunderseed if she know of a way to restore your energy.

Go back to the cross roads and fly above, out of the timberwolves reach to the path on the left. That way they can't get you and you can look for the blue eyed creature at the same time. You can afford to rest a bit when you know where the changeling guard is, if you rest now you could lose the trail entirely, causing your mission to be forfeit.

Also, you could ask her if she's he vines that saved the little changeling pony you spoke with at the hospital (it's perfectly reasonable for a phoenix to visit a hospital). Tell her that you think the blue eyed creature might be that pony's friend. You don't have to reveal that you're on a mission, but making the plunderseed aware that bodyguard is it's friend's bodyguard might change her mind, at least a little~
