I say we roll a diplomacy check! Fighting it in our condition is a big mistake as we still don't have full control over all our abilities, and the dragon probably has (read: guaranteed to have) the home field advantage. If we can talk to it long enough, then A) we may be able to get it's form anyway, and B) we may be able to get it to cooperate against it's "Natural Enemy".

water dragon powers is a useful ability to have against fire dragons plus there is a treasure chest add that all together and we have a winner scan it for data is our best bet and who knows we might get it to help us

Try and see if you can get its help/Dragon-for-Hire. if it doesnt want to help but is at least sociable ask to see if its ok to learn its form. if aggressive then ether fight it to get the Data or flee if to strong.

The fire dragons are endangering the hive. This form could break the siege. See if we can get it to help, but if it refuses, the we pick s fight and try to dodge long enough to use the form and get away.

While I would want to fight it so that it can be observed to be able to change into it, I have a feeling that it would end bad. I think that fleeing for now is the best option.

Considering the options are "fight" or "flee" I'm going to assume "being friends" is not an option. I think fleeing and returning at a later time might be more prudent, considering we're trying to get to our homeland.
