Heres hoping for a timeskip to the next sealing. They develop space travels(moon colony/shelter), evacuate the planet and let him reset the planet.

You either go out a hero or live long enough to see yourself become the villain? Better hope that the weight of what he was forced to do doesn't negatively affect the hero.
