Honestly, trying to get him to abandon his weapon and shield to fight hand to hand (or claw to claw) wouldn't be a bad thing. If he tries to complain, one can use the fact that he lied to you and deceived you in order to enter the hive and betray your trust, so he owes you an act of honor if nothing else.

Challenge him to a dual of hand-to-hand combat. You don't have much training in fighting with a sword, so if he doesn't want to fight when your at a disadvantedge to him, it makes more sense that you fight unarmed.
