I mean... Vav has a point. Every time we tried to talk to him before, we just made the situation worse and worse. Getting angrier and angrier until it manifested itself in Wrath. All whilst showing him just how ignorant and navie we are. Destroying Mercy is obviously a reference to Asgore, and he couldn't be talked down either.
