You showed him trust to the point of thoughtlessness, and he repaid you with theft and the assault of your fellows without so much as a 'by the way...'. You can demand answers from him when he's no longer holding a weapon and acting like an enemy.

Even a wooden practice sword in the hand of one who knows how to use it can be a deadly object, and changeling exoarmor can be shattered with the right strike. But Regis doesn't seem to be trying to kill, so starting by talking seems best. You have a tenative friendship, try building on that for information.
