And like the note points out, YQ has reason to think Regis is still inside the secret stash.

Because we need Love in order to find out what happened to Regis, let alone actually realize that he's gone missing. The fire dragons were getting along with the changelings, so arriving with his weapon and not Regis would just make them hostile again. Double backing and taking to the sky to try and find the other changelings would be best from what I can tell
