Hunters Tarot Series - More In-Depth (now available to Otterpups!)

Last time I updated Otterlings on the tarot series I was working on for Hunters, I explained the meanings behind Diala and Nylin's cards and personalities (the Chariot and Empress respectively), but I also gave you guys a sneak preview of two other cards that I now get to reveal to you on full display!

I have found that revealing new cards in pairs actually works quite nicely to reveal more about the comic characters, and this pairing is no exception. Both Seldrad and Idredo are important figures in the story just as Diala and Nylin are, but for very different reasons.

Seldrad's card was by far one of the easiest to decide on, both regarding the design and card choice. The Emperor is practically tailored for the alpha's personality, with one of the card's orientations denoting authority, structure, and the necessity of becoming a father figure; whereas the other orientation signifies excessive control, rigidity, and domination. The Emperor indicates confidence and being in control of one's own emotions, and acting as a father figure to those who need it and providing things ranging from structure and rules to knowledge and security. One must lead with a firm hand (or paw in this case), and respect and perseverance is crucial.

This all explain Seldrad to a 'T'. He must serve, and does serve, as an authoritative figure in the pack as its alpha, but also provides a more fatherly role towards others when needed. Even he might have his faults though. In a position of power excessive control and rigidly sticking to rules may cost him unless he keeps a level head and remains in control of his emotions. The pack counts on him, just as much as he does on them.

Idredo's was surprisingly easy to figure out as well, but may also come as a surprise to individuals that I chose his character to represent the Star. One orientation suggests hope, renewal, creativity, generosity, and healing; the other however indicates despair, a lack of hope and creativity, boredom, and negativity. This card recognizes that one may have to, if they have not already, deal with difficult or traumatic changes in life. While that can bring one down, it can also inspire one to open up their heart and realize their own inner strength, if they so choose.

People do not yet realize that Idredo is much more sensitive than he lets on, and that he has a tragic past unknown to readers as well as protagonist Laruk. He is just as capable of letting in the light and renewing his own strength as he is losing his hope and focusing on the negative. His emotional journey doesn't just affect him, though, but a few very close to him, and that is something Laruk has yet to discover.

Lastly, like with the previous post, here are sneak previews of the next two cards focusing on the comic's best siblings, Nysha, and Alina? What will be their tarot counterparts, you might wonder??
