Finding good games related to the forensics sphere in some capacity is so freaking hard. Many try, but they are just incredibly unrealistic and typically don't capture the actual feel of what it means to be a specialist in that area. Many CSI games are more focused on the characters than they are teaching CSI concepts. Ace Attorney is good but focuses a lot more on the lawyer side and even then it still delves into forensic territory it technically shouldn't. Mortuary Assistant was very dark and is a great introduction to pathological concepts, but it's harder focus on the supernatural elements leaves a lot left to desire.
But Autopsy Simulator? Holy WOW, I'm in love with this game so far.
Granted, some of the elements are sped up, understandably, but this game includes so many little details with a story of PTSD, a very realistic and often misused concept, as part of its backbone. I appreciate this more grounded approach, and the protagonist recording becomes a part of the narrative which allows the audience to learn more about anatomy, pathology, and crime investigation.
So yeah, while it doesn't quite delve into the hardcore forensic roots that I'm looking for, this is a solid piece of software that hammers home the very real horrors of what it means to be a pathologist, to examine deceased bodies and find the cause of death, with very realistic graphics that impress even the likes of me.
