Watching Blizzard: Slow news day? Ha!

Yesterday felt like a busy day (it was a Monday, after all), but today managed to be busier. We had an Overwatch patch, WoW hotfixes (featuring more good doggos), a Battle for Azerothupdate (featuring dinosaurs), and the announcement of a new Hearthstone Year. And that’s not even all!

If you’re struggling to keep up, that’s okay, because so are we. Here’s the rundown of everything that happened today.

We’ve learned a little more about the next Overwatch hero

• Could it be… Jetpack Cat? I suppose it’s possible, but right now all the evidence points to Brigitte, who we’re also pretty excited about. (Even if she doesn’t have a jetpack.)
• And, before you ask, Jetpack Cat is actually a real thing. This ridiculous feline was actually an early hero concept… so there’s no reason it couldn’t be the new hero, right?

Also in Overwatch…

• Support heroes are probably all getting an automated “help me” voice line. Finally.
• The game’s latest patch brings previously announced Sombra, Doomfist, and Mei changes to the live game. Also finally.

PVP changes? Whatever. Hotfixes related to dogs? We are all over that.

• The latest round of WoW hotfixes addresses a bug in Scarlet Halls that stopped the Houndmaster’s hounds from attacking the Guardians, but these good doggos will now brutally murder your enemies as needed. Also there were some PVP changes or something. You can read the hotfix notes for the details — I just paid attention to the dog part.
• Also falling under the category of PVP changes that don’t involve dogs, the Seething Shore battleground is now live.

There’s still a ton happening on the Battle for Azeroth alpha

• The biggest news is definitely Zandalari Troll Druid forms for Moonkin and Bear. Rossi is a little bit excited over this one.
• Griftah is back in Battle for Azeroth, and this time he actually has something useful to offer.
• This gallery of Tiragarde Sound lets you enjoy a tour of Boralus, Bridgeport, and Winterdeep Basin, even if you aren’t lucky enough to have alpha access yourself.
• New hints suggest we may be able to customize Mythic keystones in the future.

The Year of the Raven is coming to Hearthstone

• The new Year will be kicking off with a new, as-of-yet unnamed expansion, but we may find out more in a Q&A livestream this Friday.
• There are plenty of other announcements in this video from Ben Brode, including the launch of the long-awaited tournament mode! Yay!

And rounding out the list…

• All of the Heroes of the Storm news happened yesterday, but we still have a fresh hero rotation today, including the rarely seen Lost Vikings. Enjoy the chaos they’ll bring to the Nexus, everyone.
