Watching Blizzard: Everything happened today
Added 2018-08-08 03:03:30 +0000 UTC
Yes, dear readers, we have moved forward in time and have thus transitioned from everything is happening soon to everything has happened already. New story in World of Warcraft? We invaded the Undercity today (but I’ll leave you to see how that went). New hero in Heroes of the Storm? Whitemane now live in game. New Hearthstone expansion? It’s Boomsday time!
Like I said, everything happened.
So let’s take a look at the news.
Before we get started…
- We aren’t going to spoil you here, but you really should log on to WoW and play through the latest chapter of the scenario before you do get spoiled. Whether you like the story direction or not, there’s a new cinematic that’s pretty fabulous and has already spawned a small mountain of memes. (We’re already working on a meme post for you. Look for it tomorrow.)
- And don’t forget, you only have a week left to play through these story scenarios. When the expansion launches, they’ll be gone, too.
Sure, there was some kind of story thing today, but…
- Warriors got buffed. As you can imagine, Rossi is pretty excited. And for my part, I think the Monk changes are solid, too. (Finally, a reason to spec Chi Wave!)
The Boomsday Project has arrived!
- Dr. Boom is here with a 135 of the strangest Hearthstone cards yet. Be sure to log on to claim three free packs and a legendary!
- Not sure what to play after opening your packs? Ted has a list of 13 Hearthstone decks with potential.
- However, we won’t really know the best decks until the meta has had some time to breathe. We’ll see our first Boomsday decks in competitive play this weekend at HCT Germany, and I’m trying to twist Matticus’ arm to write about them. If I’m successful, look for that to go up early next week.

And that’s all there is for now, my friends. While we’ve made it past this week’s big news day (probably), there are no doubt some surprises in store as we work our way to Battle for Azerothnext week. I’ll see you back here tomorrow — but until then, this is Liz, signing out.
