Newsletter: week of 6/9

What. A. Week.

Let's get Liquid Glass, Liquid Ass, and all the hot takes that include water bottles and Windows Vista out of the way. It looks different, sure, but I'm failing to see what all the hype is about. Can anyone explain?

The bigger news was VisonOS's extensive upgrade, with Personas looking mature and the announcement of virtual Widgets that you can place in physical space, like a clock, and iPadOS further turning the iPad into a computer with a menu bar, a redesigned Files app, and Preview.

Zooming out, I thought Casey had a pretty good take on this. It feels like long-gone are the days of Apple taking big swings, outside of the Vision Pro, I suppose. I don't think this is necessarily a bad thing either, but what you are your thoughts?

Ok! But also this week, we saw the long-awaited release of the X-E5. On my press call with Fuji, they said, "Most people will say this is an X100IV with interchangeable lenses, but it is not!"... I hate to break it to you, Fuji, but it is. And that's not a bad thing! It features a 40.2MP APS-C sensor, in-body image stabilization (IBIS), and a new film simulation dial. I think many people are going to love this camera.

Personally, this week was wild for me, as well. I went into Monday with only one script done, and I am coming into Friday with two videos posted. Well, sort of. I'm still in brand deal hell with that X Half video, but I hope to be able to post it on Sunday or Monday🤞.

Alright, bud! I'm off to start decorating my apartment for our second-ever PowerPoint party. Tonight's theme: problematic faves. In brainstorming mine, I came up with everything from egg salad to AI image generation, but I'm going with something a bit more niche for the party. I would share it, but I know a few folks who read this newsletter will be in attendance. Gotta keep it a surprise!
