It’s gonna be a long road. Lots of trauma on the UNSC side and given how fast the human/covenant war progressed, most people haven’t had a chance to internalize what was happening to them. Most will latch on to anything that will stave off the realization that the behavior of the covenant is more indicative of the kind of universe they live in rather than the empathy of the celestials. In the humans mind, because the war was unprovoked, justice was on their side. They ‘deserved’ to be saved. Now the military high command on the other hand, they knew just how bad it was and I feel like they will be a bit more grateful, if suspicious
