WCW Uncensored 1995: King of the Road Match - Dustin Rhodes vs Blacktop Bully | DEADLOCK Watch This #101

It's time that DEADLOCK takes things to the streets. Like, the actual streets. Possibly, one of the streets that James lives on. On this edition of WATCH THIS, we check out the "King of the Road" Match between Dustin Rhodes and his opponent, whose name could change by the time this is posted. HONK THE HORN!

WCW Uncensored 1995: King of the Road Match - Dustin Rhodes vs Blacktop Bully | DEADLOCK Watch This #101

A mystery right up there with "why did they rent and wreck so many limousines"

Ed

WHY DID WCW RENT SO MANY HELICOPTERS?! They used one for this, they used one for the Monster Truck Sumo Match that ended in Hogan doing a big murder on Big Show, I'm sure there's a bunch of other ones between that and the Junkyard match that I forgot!

JackRyanForPope

You mean Kowabunga? AKA Chris Champion, winner of the worst squash match in wrestling history?

JackRyanForPope

Well yeah, they had to rent a fucking helicopter!

A chocolate Shakey for Me

Which led directly to Golddust. Wrestling is fucked. Also that match cost so much that they actually lost money on the PPV.

LMAO

DEADLOCK

"This must be Blacktop Bully's signature match." You're close, Jawnny. It was actually his last match, because they both got fired for blading.

A chocolate Shakey for Me

Dustin better watch out or Black Top Bully might repo his stuff Also, both these guys got fired for blading in this match

Losing Nemo

What an Insane Match! Interesting Fact about it though: Both men were fired shortly after filming this match and before it even aired for blading during the match. WCW had a Strick no blood policy at the time but would make exceptions, despite getting approval from management they were still fired anyways, did some retakes to edit around the blood and Dustin himself has claimed that WCW was trying to get rid of a handful of talent at the time so they can make up the cost of Hiring Hogan. If this crazy scenario didn't happen we would have probably never gotten the Goldust gimmick.

JizDiz livin outside of city limits makes everything make a LOT more sense now tbh. PS. for a suggestion for a Watch This! - FMW Explosion Pool Death Match, September 25, 1994. you know why, you already know.

The mean streets of Tupelo weren't ready

The last WCW Watch This also involved a helicopter and a shitty match and this took place 4 years earlier and the look and feel of the company is completely different. This makes me think though, given the amount of ridiculous types of matches TNA had, if they had more money behind them, they probably would've done more stuff like this. Like a Last Rites match in an actual cemetery or mausoleum. Or a King of the Mountain match on an actual mountain

You know what, Dustin Rhodes sucks. Now I’m out here looking like uncle fester.
