2023-04-29 17:42:52 +0000 UTCI looked into the origins of Ultimate X and, according to Scott D'Amore in an interview on Impact's YouTube page last year, it was apparently Glenn Gilberti (Disco Inferno) who had the original idea for the match type. "We love to joke about how Don Callis invented Ultimate X because heβs the one who did the promo, I hate to say this and itβs going to pain me, I might ask Garrett to cut this out but the genesis of Ultimate X comes from the Disco Inferno. Once he came up with the idea β and heβll always be the one to say, βIβve got 100 ideas, and at least 98, maybe 99 of them are terrible. But one of them might be OK.β Well, Ultimate X was one of those ideas. We had to work with it, we had to refine it, figure out how to build it, which was a whole ordeal and could be a whole podcast itself, but we made it work and brought a match that was uniquely ours."

I started watching TNA during the FSN and the last episode I watched was when the Main Event Mafia took over the show. I never had much attachment to TNA outside of Monty Brown, LAX, and the The Paparazzi Championship Series(we need a Watch This! on that btw) but I really enjoy seeing the boys mark out over TNA.
