A Weekly(hopefully) Update, week of 07-25-25

I am going to try to put these out weekly so those who only follow get a sense of what’s happening.

What was done, writing wise, this week.

Two chapters for Mind your Step and The Technician’s fight, were written, this is friday, before my writing starts, so there each will get another one.

The Tourists, which is book 10 in the Monsters and Bad Men series got a chapter. I still haven’t worked out what I’m going to do with this in regards to Patreon, since it so breaks the ‘obscene material’ rules it’s not funny.

And I worked on Harker. For those who aren’t away, that’s my super-powered university project. I don’t have a story for it at this point, and when I get ideas, they tend to be ‘all over the place’. That kept me from doing any work on this for the longest time, so I decided not to bother with linear time. If I have an idea for a scene, I write it, no matter where in the series it happens to be.

If I don’t have anything story related, then I work on the world building. That’s being done in the form of news articles and I’m putting them up on my website https://thetigerwrites.weebly.com/the-harker-project-wb.html feel free to take a look. I added a few dealing to Telepath in the classroom.

I am not sure how I’ll deal with the stories themselves in that world. They will be available to my supporters, as I do with anything Patreon lets me post, but I expect that until I have an actual story in the world, figuring out what I do outside of there isn’t going to be helpful.

Speaking of Patreon. I created a new tier at 3$ for those who are only interested in supporting Dungeon Runner. I added Bottom Rung to it, and will add the rest as I find time. Once I’m done with it, I will do the same for A Heart’s Life. The ‘read everything’ tier will remain unchanged.

I have been averaging 6 chapters a week of editing for Stepping Up, the second book in the Dungeon Runner series, in preparation for a March 2026 release. I will probably release it early on Patreon.

Outside of writing? Well, I expect this will usually be pretty boring, but this week I have something.

I spilled water on my Keymouse. That’s my split keyboard with intergrated trackball. It’s the original one I got, years ago. When it started falling and not be usable for gaming, I put it in storage and replaced it with the Charybdis, from Bastard Keyboard, and that’s been….well, something of an adventure.

When I realized that writing didn’t demand as much of a keyboard as gaming, I pulled the Keymouse out and set it up at the writing desk. It wasn’t perfect, but it got the job done.

Then I spilled water on it and…it doesn’t work anymore.

Since the big thing I like about those kind of keyboards is the fact I don’t have to take my hand off to use the mouse, I ordered a ‘roll mouse’ which is a system that is used in conjunction with a normal keyboard, but sets the ‘mouse’ under the space bar, to be used with my thumb. I’m hoping it will make for a more comfortable use, and if it does, I’ll look into further changes to move toward more a ergonomic layout.

At Royal Road, https://www.royalroad.com/, the Migration of Stepping Wild within the 'Dungeon Runner Book' is progressing nicely, if slowly. I'm hoping to be done with the work part of it early next week, then it'll just be about the schedule progressing.
