Update for the week ending on 08-08-25

This week, it was 2 chapters for Mind Your Step, and 2 for The Technician’s fight, on account of the Monday Holiday. There was a chapter for The Tourists, and 2…chapters is the wrong name for those, but 2 of them for Harker.

All of Dungeon Runner is now available on its exclusive tier.
A Heart’s Life now had its own Tier, and The Captain’s Heart is on it.
Chapter 19 of The Technician’s Fight was blocked by Patreon for, as best as I can work out, me mentioning the characters have sex in the author’s notes. I’m not sure what else it would be since removing the author’s note for that chapter caused Patreon to reinstate the chapter with a big “Thank you for sticking to our(stupid) guidelines.”
With Gumroad starting to remove my ‘questionable’ books, I’ve decided to stop sending people there to buy my Ebooks. Directing them to my Patreon store instead.
The three chapters I wrote last week for The Technician’s fight have been edited and scheduled to post on Patreon, as well as what I wrote for Harker, and a chapter for Going Home, the Tiranis story following A Creature of War.

My programmable split keyboard arrived over the weekend and getting to the point where I can program it had been…an adventure. The manufacturer claims it’s VIA and QMK compatible, of the two, VIA is plug and play, so I decided to use that one. Only it’s not quite plug and play because I first needed to download the app, then get a file from the manufacturer website and then that still didn’t work. Turns out there’s a glitch, which they are aware of, that makes it so each time I want to use the app, I need to unload the file, reload it, and do that until, finally, it sees the keyboard. I haven’t told them what I think of that yet, because I haven’t calmed down enough to put that in less than insulting language.
Fortunately, the VIA webapp does work, once the file is uploaded to it, so I’ve been making progress, finally. There were other problems, but they were, ultimately, my doing, so not worth talking about.
Life related!
Monday was a holiday in Canada called the ‘Civic Holiday’
I’m not kidding about the name. A few years ago, the government decided each month should have one holiday. At time February didn’t have one, it’s the only one I noticed because they slapped it right after Valentine and called it “Family Day”. I didn’t know August had gotten one too, because I was a trucker and holidays aren’t a think for them.
I also didn’t know it had gotten one until this year, because last fall is when I made the decision to take all ‘bank holidays’ off writing to keep from burning myself out.
It turns out that August is so boring in Canada they couldn’t find one event to tag to it as a name. Each province had giving it a different name, and in Ontario, so little happened here that the province hadn’t bothered naming. So each city had its own name for the holiday.
That day was good for me. I spent it playing Out of Ore, my weekend game. And as I do on every holiday, I watched a movie while eating…not my usual stuff. This time, the movie was “The Bad Guys” because the second one came up on Sunday while playing Satisfactory with Kzorith. I hadn’t found a movie yet, and it reminded me I hadn’t seen that one.
It was fun. Nothing grand, rather predictable, but still entertaining. It made decent use of the heist concept throughout the plotlines.
My website might get a facelift. Someone taking web design classes dropped by my stream and after talking for nearly an hour about a lot of stuff, well after I’d giving them the link to my site as part of the conversation, they mentioned that and ask if I’d be okay with them redesigning it was part of building their portfolio. They are doing it for free, so I said yes.
Before anyone freaks out, no, I have not given them free access to my site.
I don’t have a good track record with people offering to do something for free and it happening, so we’ll see how this goes.
That’s basically it.
If you want to pick up an e-book, check out the shop.
If you have questions, please do not hesitate to ask them. If you want to drop by my stream, that’s on Twitch and Youtube. https://www.twitch.tv/thetigerwrites and www.youtube.com/@TheTigerWrites
Have a good weekend, and see you next week.

yeah, I'm aware pressures are being made on the credit card companies, and I have my opinions on them for even giving into the pressures. if I had an alternative I'd drop Mastercard as my credit card

2025-08-09 08:47:15 +0000 UTCUnfortunately, there's no alternative to Visa or MasterCard for paying companies that provide Adult services. Some people are calling their customer service lines once or twice a day to complain. Writing and sending a physical letter is usually impressive, too. In either case, be polite, but make it clear that credit card companies have no business acting as public censors. The idea is to make them understand that Holy Rollers like Common Shout are a small minority of their customers; the majority like porn and want to buy it and are not happy with them for getting in the way.

2025-08-08 15:58:47 +0000 UTCHave you heard about Visa and MasterCard cracking down on companies that use them as payment services? An Australian organization called Common Shout has been harassing them for not upholding their Christian values regarding pornography. They finally managed to browbeat MasterCard and Visa into refusing to provide service to companies that sell anything Common Shout deems pornographic. That's probably why Gumroad won't sell your e-books anymore and why you got that notice from Patreon. They forced Mau Abata to close Refsheet, (if you're familiar with it.)
